Kraft Ads Campaign Too 'Zesty' For 'One Million Moms'

Some new advertisements from Kraft have a mother's group getting "zesty" about something – an email campaign.

The company's "Let's Get Zesty" campaign – including the GetMeZesty.com website and a @TheZestyGuy Twitter account – features a man taking most or all of his clothes off to sell, ironically, dressing. Italian Zesty Dressing.

The bare-chested hunk sporting a near beard and varied amounts of clothing took it one step farther in a two-page spread in People Magazine, in which he's wearing only the corner flap of his picnic blanket.

That's where the group One Million Moms – "a network of Christian moms and grandmothers taking a stand by letting our voice be heard" – took notice, describing the ad in a Facebook post this week as "the most disgusting ad."

The group goes on to say, "A person has to look closely to see the item the company is marketing because the salad dressing bottle is so small next to the male model, picnic basket and other food items. There is also a small Kraft logo in the upper corners with the words 'Silverware Optional - Let's Get Zesty.'"

Saying they "cannot get over the gall of the company," One Million Moms is urging fans to send a letter and urge Kraft to discontinue the "offensive" campaign.

That's clearly not how the company thought its spread would be received when it tweeted (four times) on May 24, "Pick up the latest People magazine for a @Kraftdressing picnic that we're sure you'll LIKE."

And, of course, there are some who are far less than offended, like the person who tweeted, "Dear Kraft. Thank you for the Italian zesty commercial. Love, the female population."

While "The Zesty Guy" often replies to his 6,700 followers, sprinkling in a "beautiful," "babe," or wishing them a happy #humpday, there don't appear to be any responses to complaints.

Nor are there any on Kraft's Twitter feeds.
