Homes damaged by falling trees in north Fulton County

Posted: Updated:

Thursday's storm brought down numerous large trees in Roswell.

A 95-year-old woman was one of those who narrowly escaped injury. Evelyn Coleman owns two homes side-by-side on Woodstock Street. A huge oak tree split one of those homes in two and damaged the other house. A woman who rents the home barely escaped. A neighbor had to break the window to pull her out. Thankfully, no one was injured.

"Oh, God was merciful. He was so merciful to us," said Coleman.

She has called Roswell home for more than 70 years.

"A lump comes up in my throat and I can't hardly swallow. It's devastating," said Coleman.

Coleman, a huge Braves fan, said she found comfort in wearing the old cap as she surveyed the damage.

Downed trees made travel tough in north Fulton County on Friday. Mountain Park Road was one of many closed by the debris.
