BROOKLYN, Mich. (WJBK) -

Ask anyone who has been to a race and they will tell you why NASCAR is known for being a fan-friendly sport, but this weekend at MIS, the Quicken Loans 400 is about so much more than just racing.

"This year we continue to make it more of a festival. The race is kind of the main act, but we've got a great welcome center out here for people who are new to the sport or even those who have been coming for a long time. It's a great opportunity to go in there with a lot of interactive stuff, educational stuff," said Michigan International Speedway President Roger Curtis.

"We've really worked hard to have whatever kind of experience you want to have, if it's a family, if you want to come with buddies or whatever it may be. So we have a kids' zone out there in the fan plaza, which is kind of like our midway at a state fair. It's a great opportunity for the kids to come and do all kinds of kids' things, and Jimmy Johnson is going to be doing a Q&A with kids, which ought to be very interesting."

"We have kids twelve and under free on Sunday for the Quicken Loans 400," Curtis added." "Tickets start as low as $30 for the adults in a reserved grandstand seat, and with your kids and free parking and you can bring your own cooler full of food and beverage, it's a very inexpensive day."

Close to 100,000 fans are expected, but tickets are still available. Curtis explained how people can get them.

"They can go to 800-354-1010 or to mispeedway.com. I'd encourage people to download to their smart phones so they don't have to stand in line at the box office on Sunday," he said.

With sunshine and comfortable temperatures forecast for this weekend, we could very well see some record breaking speeds on the two mile super speedway.
