NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Riders should anticipate some service changes but "near normal" service on the Long Island Rail Road for the Wednesday morning rush. Crews have been working to repair tracks and switches after Monday's derailment.

"All four tunnels are needed to operate a full LIRR rush hour schedule. With the work concluded, trains are again running through all four," the MTA said.

Service out of Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn and Hunterspoint Avenue in Queens will be normal.

The changes follow the derailment of a two cars of a 10-car train in one of the East River tunnels near Penn Station Monday afternoon.

LIRR workers re-railed and cleared the derailed cars, according to the MTA website. Crews from Amtrak, which owns the East River tunnels, were fixing wires, signals, and tracks, the MTA said.

The cause of the derailment is being investigated.

Police, firefighters, and MTA personnel helped get passengers off the train and back to safety on Monday afternoon.

People from the rear five cars were able to walk back and out. Passengers in the front of the train were taken off by another train that pulled up alongside, the AP reported.

No one was hurt in what officials called a "minor derailment."
