Garage door left open; stolen car later dumped into canal
GLENDALE, Ariz. -
During the cooler months in the spring and fall, we've talked about the dangers of leaving your arcadia doors open and how that can attract burglars.
Now there's a new warning for the hot summer months: How many of us leave our home's garage door open just a little?
Something to think about as a garage door cracked open is an invitation to thieves.
Early Tuesday morning, a stolen car ended up in a canal near 67th Avenue and Greenway in Glendale.
Police say the thief was able crawl inside the garage because the homeowner left the door open a few feet to let air circulate inside. They're reminding the public not to leave their garage doors open -- because what's better? A cool garage with no car or to keep the car in the garage and keep it safe.
Authorities say someone called 911 after spotting the car in the canal. No one was inside the vehicle.
