Hal Linden & Joshua Henry: We Took Something Serious And Turned It On Its' Head

Posted: Updated:

The Scottsboro Boys were nine black teenage boys accused rape in Alabama in 1931. The landmark set of legal cases from this incident dealt with racism, an attempted lynching and overall, a horrendous miscarriage of justice.  Now on stage at the Ahmanson Theatre, "The Scottsboro Boys" is a musical -- yes, a musical -- whose music and lyrics were written by Broadway giants Joe Kander and Fred Ebb, who wrote "Cabaret" and "Chicago."

Two of the stars of "The Scottsboro Boys," Hal Linden and Joshus Henry join Steve Edwards and Maria Sansone on Good Day L.A.

Fun facts about Hal:

  • In 1975, he landed his best known role as the titular character in the television comedy series Barney Miller. The role earned him seven Primetime Emmy Award and three Golden Globe Award nominations.
  • Linden has since continued his career on the stage, in films and guest starring roles on television. He released his first album of pop and jazz standards, It's Never Too Late, in 2011.

Fun facts about Joshua:

  • He had originally wanted to be an accountant, like his mother, but changed his mind after he was cast as Harold Hill in his high school production of The Music Man.
  • Henry then appeared in the first Sex and the City film in 2008, subsequently playing the Tin Man in The Wiz at the New York City Center in 2009.
