Families welcome Army Guardsmen returning home

PHOENIX -

A very exciting day for some military families at Sky Harbor Airport as members of the army National Guard returned home from Afghanistan.

The troops are part of the Army's Security Force Assistance teams serving with Afghan police in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Friends and family members were happy to reunite with their loved ones today after not seeing them for several months.

“Relax and spend time together and just enjoy having him home,” said Jennifer Stoddard, military wife.

“My husband was also deployed last year for 12 months so you knowing that your spouse is in danger and you have no control over it is very hard as soon as you see them come home is just a huge relief.”

The rest of the unit is scheduled to come home in July.

More than 400 Arizona National Guard soldiers are currently serving overseas.
