New booze labels to feature calorie, nutrition info

Posted: Updated:

Have you ever wondered how many calories are in that glass of wine? Or, what about the carbs in that vodka tonic? It may soon be easier to do the math as companies start to voluntarily add nutritional labels to alcohol

The FOX Medical Team's Beth Galvin is here with a look at it.

Health and fitness consultant Cara Weaver says it's always been a very common question: Can you drink booze and still lose weight?

"People want to work really hard and then they want to go and have a drink," Cara said. "Alcohol does nothing for your metabolism, and it has no nutritional value."

Drinking may lower inhibitions, making it easier to give into nachos and lots of other foods that are high in fats.

And, the drinks add up. A glass of wine is about 125 calories. A glass of beer is around 150 calories. And, an ounce of vodka is 65 calories.

But, in addition to knowing the number of calories in your drink, shouldn't you also know the number of carbs and protein and fat grams in your drink, too?
