Vendors outside Turner Field remain sidelined

Posted: Updated:

A move to put baseball vendors back to work at Turner Field stalled at City Hall on Tuesday.

The vendors have been benched since the beginning of the year because of a legal battle.

Even though a majority of the City Council members tried to put the vendors back on the job on Tuesday, city lawyers said the legislation would not accomplish that goal.

"It would be a policy position, but it wouldn't have the force of law," said Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Bond.

Vendor Larry Miller said that he's lost about 80 percent of his normal revenue this season as he's tried to work from private space.

The vendors will return to Superior Court on Thursday in hopes of being able to work out a resolution that will put them back to work.
