STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

A Stone Mountain woman is worried that a sinkhole that has opened up in her yard could get even bigger.

The sinkhole, which about 4-feet long, 2-feet wide and at least 7-feet deep, opened up several days ago in Lakishia Greene's front yard. She's concerned it could pose a danger to her 7-year-old son.

A lawn crew first noticed problems with the ground about two weeks ago. At that time, there was no hole.

"It was just soft in that area, " Greene said. "They just avoided it after their tire got stuck, they said they weren't going to chance it."

Greene is now avoiding that area of her property and keeping her son and other children away from it until it can get fixed or filled.

"For me it would be very concerning, the fact that I have a child, other children live in the neighborhood, so I don't know how deep it is, I just know that it's wide, it's fairly hollow and I would hate for someone to fall in it," said Greene.

Greene is worried that more rain could make the sinkhole grow even larger.

Greene has talked to the property's owner, who she says is still trying to determine how much of the problem is related to underground pipes and how much was caused by rain.
