Summer Storm Damage In Camden

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN, N.J. -

Fire crews rushed to several calls of big trees down after they were ripped from their foundations following a stormy Tuesday in Camden.

One of those trees landed on Stacey Still's house.

"Mother nature," she exclaimed.

Police took her through the property to examine the damage.

She's glad she was away with her family when the tree hit.

"I have my life. That's important. I can always replace that stuff, but my life? Can't replace that."

The afternoon storms caused headaches all across the city.

It washed out the Jimmy Buffett tailgate where thousands of people were partying. While across town, Marion Brown had to figure out what to do since the weather dropped a tree on top of her van.

"It's all messed up in the front. Everything is messed up in the front," says Brown.

She relies on it to get around town, and says she's stranded for the time being.

"For now that's our transportation. We don't have no way of getting or going or coming."

Power crews hit the scene after the fierce weather brought down numerous power lines, turning the lights out in several homes.

"We saw the flash when it hit one of the transformer boxes. That's when power in the house flickered on and off," says William Roberts, a neighbor who lost power.

Now crews are breaking down the trees into manageable pieces, all the while wondering when the next wild storm will hit.
