$50 to see a movie?

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

These days going to the movies can feel a lot like going to the airport. There are all of those premium upgrades -- 3D, IMAX, reserved seating -- and it all seems like it costs a fortune in the end, especially if you bring your family.

But, with added perks, would you pay $50 to see a film?

Last week Paramount Pictures and Regal Cinemas announced a $50 "Mega Ticket" that got you in to see Brad Pitt's zombie thriller ''World War Z'' before your friends. You also got 3D glasses to keep, a small popcorn, a poster, and a copy of the movie on DVD when it is eventually released on that format.

Entertainment Weekly writer Grady Smith said that the studio hopes to tap into the pockets of the diehard movie fans.

Paramount says this was a "one-time experiment" done in five different cities and has yet to release any information on whether or not their plan sold out.
