Thousands Gather In NYC To Mourn James Gandolfini

Posted: Updated:

The Cathedral Church of St. John The Divine was surrounded by thousands of fans of the late, great actor James Gandolfini early Thursday morning.

Police had to section off portions of the streets surrounding the Morningside Heights church in order to accommodate the large amount of friends and family expected to attend the 10:00 am service.

Last evening, a private viewing was held in Park Ridge, NJ for close family members.

The lights dimmed on Broadway as a show of respect for the late actor who was nominated for a TONY for his role in God of Carnage.

HBO has cameras in the church and will be taping the services.  This footage will be given to the family as a private and personal gift.
