ATLANTA -

One day before Chipper Jones' number is officially retired at Turner Field, he made a special appearance at another local ball field.  Jones was on hand for the opening of the newly-renovated West Manor Park Field on Thursday.

The Braves funded the refurbishment of the ball field in honor of Jones' retirement last season, and it's the first of several baseball park renovation projects planned in Chipper's honor.  The former third baseman joined representatives from the team and city officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Jones also held a skills clinic for youth baseball players at Thursday's event.

Jones' No.10 jersey will officially be retired on Friday night, when he's inducted into the Braves' Hall of Fame before the team hosts the Arizona Diamondbacks.
