Burglars take advantage of ill business owner

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

A man says his business was burglarized over and over again while he was in the hospital and it has not stopped now that he is out.

Dale Bennett says he has run his business for nearly 40 years. In that time, the neighborhood around him has grown more troubled, but it was just in the past couple of months that he has found himself a target of crime.

Bennett showed FOX 5's Justin Gray the damage and the items taken from A-1 Auto Parts on Vine Street. Engines, a hood, radiators, tires and other parts from vehicles were taken. Other evidence is busted windows and windshields.

He says he was recovering in the hospital after a heart attack when the break-ins began.

Atlanta police started doing surveillance of the business and arrested Rodney Brown and Otis Walker earlier this month after allegedly catching the pair in the act of burglarizing the business.

However, this didn't stop the thefts. In fact, FOX 5 cameras found new evidence of a break-in that happened within 24-hours of speaking with Bennett.
