Ga. sales tax holiday set for Aug. 9-10

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia's sales tax holiday is set for Aug. 9-10.

Businesses in Georgia won't be charging sales tax on clothes, shoes, school supplies and computers on those two days in August set by the state.

There are limits. A pair of shoes and an item of clothing can't cost more than $100. School supplies can't cost more than $20 per item, with a $1,000 limit on computers and accessories.

The Georgia Department of Revenue reports that they have had an annual sales tax holiday for more than a decade with a few exceptions. There were no sales tax holidays in 2009, 2010 and 2011, when state officials said they couldn't afford it.

For full details on the Georgia's sales tax holiday including a quick fact sheet of what is included, visit the Georgia Department of Revenue's sales tax website.
