A bloody July 4th weekend inspired the walk. Four people were murdered during the holiday weekend alone. The crimes come after budget cuts reduced the city's police force by two-thirds and disbanded its narcotics unit. They went from 64 officers down to just 24.

Now, the six square mile community is dealing with the problem of an increase in violent crime. If you have any information that can help police solve the recent murders, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP. You can remain anonymous.
