Join us July 19, 20, 21 at Hart Plaza downtown Detroit. In 2012 this event had over 35,000+ people out growing Paradise Valley Park in the first year. With 2013 this event is expecting close to 50,000+ the move to Hart Plaza on the waterfront is a perfect fit says event promoter "Johnnie Washington."
Event hours 11:00 am to midnight all three days and free to the public all day Friday. Also free Saturday & Sunday until 4:00 pm $3.00 after which makes this event a must see for the whole family! World class entertainment, great music, great food.
A red carpet walk will take place Saturday at 6:30pm celebrating the world premiere "The Rebirth Of Paradise valley". The short film documentary will highlight this rich and wonderful history of the City of Detroit.
The short film will be on sale all weekend long. Join THE DAZZ BAND performing all their hits, jazz extraordinaire Ronnie Laws, Tom "funkin for Jamaica "Brown, Christopher Williams, Kimmie Horne and 30 bands from jazz ,R&B , Neo Soul to Gospel will serve as headliners for this historical weekend. Paradise Valley has one of the richest histories in the world.
Not only for its 66 blocks where African Americans lived and worked, this was a time when there was over 350 black own businesses from law offices, drug stores, and Barber shops. Black owned night clubs is were all the greats played Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Sammy Davis Jr, Josephine Baker, all the greats of the day played Detroit and played in Paradise Valley.
The great City of Detroit has made a major investment in restoring the great past of Paradise Valley "formerly Harmonie Park". This world premiere of the short film documentary "The Rebirth of Paradise Valley" and Detroit Paradise Valley Music Festival is meant to celebrate our rich past of our great City of Detroit and in keeping our history alive! Join us and enjoy wonderful music by Jazz greats of today hear the story of a time gone by.
