Cleanup underway after weekend storms

COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

Homeowners all over metro Atlanta spent Monday cleaning up following the aftermath of this weekend's storms.

In Marietta, crews worked to remove downed trees from roads and homes.

Glen Radford said a tree came down on his home on Wood Glen Lane off of Powers Ferry Road on Saturday afternoon.

"My wife said, ‘I heard a pop.' And we didn't know what it was," Radford said. "We just thought it was maybe a branch hitting the roof or something, but two, three seconds later the water came flowing through like someone turned on a spigot."

Radford said they looked outside and saw that two of their pine trees were gone.

"We didn't even realize that the third tree hit the house until the fire department came out," he said. "It was unbelievable and just totally devastated our house."

Radford said the tree punctured holes in the rooms, crushed their furnace and knocked out duct work and damaged their hardwood floors.

In southwest Atlanta, power crews spent the day clearing away a large tree that fell on Delowe Drive.

The tree knocked out power to the neighborhood; neighbors say they're glad it didn't cause any damage.
