IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WJBK) -

A strange sighting over the skies in Michigan's upper peninsula.

FOX 2 Facebook fan Jason Asselin shot video in Iron Mountain showing mammatus clouds in the evening sky. These smooth, bumpy clouds are often associated with severe weather.

According to eo.ucar.edu, mammatus clouds form in sinking air. The sinking air must be cooler than the air around it and have high liquid water or ice content.
