Men accused of tying up boy during home invasion

Posted: Updated:
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. -

Bartow County Sheriff's Investigators have arrested three people charged with tying up a 12-year-old boy in a home invasion.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Yvonne Alexander, 18-year-old Austin Hernandez and 18-year-old Vernon Nisbett. They are charged with robbery, burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, battery and first-degree cruelty to children.

Investigators say on July 12, Nisbett went to a home of a man he knew on Jordan Road in Cartersville and asked for a ride. They say while Nisbett was with the man, the two others and a third person entered the home not knowing his 12-year-old son was inside. When the boy's father returned, he found his son locked in the bathroom with his hands and feet bound with duct tape.

The suspects are accused of stealing about $2,000 worth of electronics.

Authorities are searching for a fourth person they believe was involved in the home invasion.

The boy suffered minor scratches and bruises in the incident, police said.
