CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Viewers who have a few extra minutes and access to a computer could weigh in Sunday morning on some important decisions being made here by government officials.

The Metropolitan Planning Council is one of the groups urging the public to tell City Hall and the State of Illinois what should be done improve North Lake Shore Drive from Grand Avenue to Hollywood. A big study is underway and if you rollerblade, bicycle, walk, jog, swim, kayak, canoe or drive along the lakefront. Or, if you just like to picnic in the park and commune with nature, check out the MPC website. They also have details of the public hearings that will be held on the subject by the city and state next month on August 6, 7 and 8.

The Metropolitan Planning Council would also like your help on its Union Station project. The 120,000 rail riders who pass through everyday actually outnumber the people who typically pass through Midway Airport.

As you'll see at the website, Union Station was built in 1925 and several large spaces have become virtual dead zones. 25 separate plans have been submitted to reactivate those spaces, potentially creating new amenities for commuters and generating revenue.

Cast your vote. Two proposals will be selected as winners and each will receive $5,000.
