Ga. man convicted in immigration bribery scheme

ATLANTA (AP) - U.S. Attorney's officials say a man has pleaded guilty to bribing an undercover federal agent for immigration benefits.

Authorities say 32-year-old Ibrahim Barrie of Atlanta paid thousands of dollars in bribes to an undercover Department of Homeland Security agent between September 2010 and July 2012.

Officials say Ibrahim paid for help with his expediting his immigration status and getting a permanent resident card.

Prosecutors say Ibrahim faces up to five years in federal prison and a $75,000 fine. Authorities say he'll most likely be deported as well.

Ibrahim will be sentenced Sept. 30.
