Fulton offers back-to-school 2-in-1 immunization help

Posted: Updated:

Thousands of metro Atlanta students are starting a new school year this week. To help families meet student requirements, the Fulton County Health Department scheduled its back-to-school immunization rush.

Students can come in for health screenings and vaccinations all in one stop. Fulton's health department is slated to offer these services at three locations until 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The three locations are:

 - Adamsville Regional Health Center - (404) 613-4215
 - College Park Regional Health Center - (404) 765-4155
 - North Fulton Regional Health Center (Alpharetta) - (404) 612-1876

What should parents/guardians bring?

 - Your child's immunization records.
 - Children entering kindergarten and those new to Georgia: Immunization Certificate, Georgia Form 3231, and a Dental, Vision and Hearing Form 3300.

What are the required immunizations?

 - Children entering kindergarten: May need a second dose of varicella (chicken pox), measles and mumps vaccines and a booster dose of DTap and IPV.
 - Children entering the sixth grade: May need another dose of chicken pox vaccine if they have not had chicken pox disease and another dose of MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella). It is recommended that children 11-12 years of age also receive TDap, Meningitis and HPV.
 - High school and college students: Meningitis vaccine that prevents meningococcal disease.

All parents are encouraged to take advantage of the Rush PODs to be ready for school.  Vaccinations are available at all Fulton County Health Centers on an ongoing basis, for any families who are unable to attend this special Back to School event.

For more information, call (404) 612-1211 for health center locations. Log-on to www.fultoncountygahealth.org for more information on required immunizations and documentation.

If you’re a pet owner, you’ve probably been there. You lean down to say hello and, before you know it, your dog has planted a big wet one right on your mouth. But a UGA Vet says that “kiss” may come with a downside.
