Judge refuses bond for 'Baseball Wife' Benson

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A Cobb County judge is refusing bond for former "Baseball Wives" star Anna Benson, who's accused of assaulting her one-time pitcher husband.

The judge's ruling Friday means the 37-year-old Benson will remain in jail awaiting trial on charges of threatening estranged husband Kris Benson, who last pitched in 2010 for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Anna Benson once appeared on the VH-1 reality series "Baseball Wives." She' charged with assault and burglary.

Police say the woman was armed with a gun, ammunition, a knife and a metal baton when she broke into her husband's home in metro Atlanta and demanded $30,000 on July 7.

Benson had sought $50,000 bond and monitoring along with psychological treatment.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/14lRIbr ) reports the request was denied by Cobb Superior Judge LaTain Kell.
