Posted: Updated:

A Pima County Sheriff's deputy was shot in the leg Saturday night at a Circle K near Wetmore and Romero Roads.

According to PCSO, deputy Jesus Davila was responding to a call of a suspicious person with gun at the convenience store.

When Davila arrived, he talked to 41-year-old Alvin McBride for a short time before a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, McBride allegedly shot Davila in the leg.

Both men went to the ground and continued to struggle. Deputies say Davila then took out his weapon and fatally shot McBride.

McBride was pronounced dead at the scene.

Davila was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
