DETROIT (WJBK) -

A Michigan man has made it his mission to swim across Lake St. Clair towing over 300 bricks.

The journey began Monday morning at the Clinton River Boat Club near Algonac, and it was supposed to wrap up Tuesday afternoon on Belle Isle, but now Jim Dreyer is expected to finish around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

"He did get off track and just being tired and so forth, he did get to a point where he just wasn't moving for awhile," said Sandra Pearson.

Dreyer wants to rebuild Michigan brick by brick. He is doing this to bring awareness to the state and the fact that there are many Michigan families just treading above water.
