Woman Who Was Punched By Officer, Reacts To Reinstatement

PHILADELPHIA -

Aida Guzman walks with her attorney. She carries strong emotions about the reinstatement of former Philadelphia Police Lt. Jonathan Josey.

Josey is the man seen on an infamous YouTube video, striking her down at 5th and Lehigh after an unknown liquid was thrown on officers. The incident took place during a Puerto Rican day celebration and left her with a bloody lip.

"Police are here for good, you know protect the people. Not to hit people. He hit me and he's lying," says Guzman.

"Everyone here saw the same video. We all know what happened…There's just a twist on exactly how you want to interpret what happened," says Enrique Latoison, Guzman's attorney.

An arbitrator sided with Josey, saying Guzman got the bloody lip from a fall, not a punch. The victory means Josey will be restored to his rank of lieutenant, receiving all back pay and benefits.

Josey was fired last fall after the incident and charged with simple assault. But he was ultimately acquitted. We stopped by Josey's GErmantown apartment for comment.

HE was not available, but he did post a statement on Facebook, saying in part:

"First and foremost I want to give all glory, honor and thanks be to GOD for carrying me throughout this entire ordeal. God is good."

Police commissioner Charles Ramsey stood by his decision to fire Josey after seeing the video, but says he has no choice but to bring Josey back.

"I have no regrets about the action that I took at the time this took place. The decision has been rendered and I will abide by it," says Ramsey.

Meanwhile, Guzman says she just wants to move on with her life. She won a 75,000 dollar settlement from the city, but says justice was not served.

"I don't feel happy. I feel furious, upset," she says.
