Assistance Animals Recognized In New Jersey

Posted: Updated:
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. -

It's Assistance Animal Recognition Day in New Jersey.

People turned out at Gloucester County College to highlight the importance of service animals and the help they offer their partners.

Just last week, a 19-year army veteran and his service dog were kicked off the North Wildwood boardwalk. Today's event aims to stop these incidents.

"They provide a service, a service that if it wasn't provided, people wouldn't have the opportunity to live certain ways, to live the way that they want to," says State Senator Donald Norcross, who spoke at the event.

Today was new jersey's first-ever assistance animal recognition day.
