Crazy Laws Still On The Books

Posted: Updated:

Today on "The List" we're talking about crazy laws that are actually still on the books in parts of the country. Hard to believe but for example in Oklahoma dogs must have a permit signed by the mayor in order to congregate in groups of three or more on private property.

I know, it's hard to believe but yes, they are real! The folks over at Huffington Post came up with 9 crazy ones, here are some of our favorites...

  1. First up, a law about beer drinking...its not beer drinking that's against the law...its what you have with it. In North Dakota you cannot be served beer and pretzels at the same time in any bar or restaurant. (But don't worry, cops aren't writing tickets for this one.)
  2. In Alaska, it is illegal to wake a bear specifically to take its picture. I don't know why you would, this one kind of make sense... although it sounds like its more for the protection of the stupid person that would actually think was a good thing to do.
  3. In Oklahoma, a law on the books says a woman cannot do her own hair, unless licensed by the state.
  4. In Kentucky, you are not allowed to dye a duckling blue and offer it for sale unless you offer more than six blue ducklings at once.
  5. And finally... in Idaho, you can buy your girlfriend a box of chocolates, but it is illegal if the box weighs less than 50 pounds.
