Man Arrested In Pa. For Identity Theft Scheme

Posted: Updated:

According to the Attorney General's office, 24 year old Michael Taylor has been arrested for allegedly operating a fraudulent "rental car business" and stealing retail merchandise.

According to the grand jury, Michael Taylor, also known as Alexis Scott, allegedly stole confidential information from various businesses and individuals, and then placed more than $100,000 in fraudulent rental reservations to his online accounts that he created with various car rental companies. The grand jury also says that Taylor used other people's information to buy retail merchandise from Bloomingdale's.

Agents estimate that his schemes resulted in losses of at least $150,000 worth of vehicles, merchandise and services. Taylor was nabbed when he responded to an online prostitution ad that investigators set up, says the Attorney General's office.

The preliminary hearing will be on August 22, and Taylor is charged with offenses that include 145 counts of Theft by Deception.
