American Idol Season 1 Runner Up Describes Current Life

Posted: Updated:

Justin Guarini, who came in second after Kelly Clarkson on the first season of American Idol, wrote a blog post about his life now, post Idol fame.

In his post, he describes "struggling to make each day meet the next without breaking down and curling up." Also, Justin apparently skips meals in order to have enough food for his children and wife. He even says that he occasionally envies "people who sit at a desk all day (at least you know where your next meal is coming from).

But life isn't all gloom. Justin talks very positively about his family, saying, "Now I rent a home filled with love. I have a wife whom I love and loves me (me!)...children who give me cherubic-lipped kisses before I leave for work...."

Some have interpreted Justin's words to mean that he's literally near poverty, to which Justin responded in a tweet: "Obviously you completely missed the point of my letter @peoplemag. News isn't news anymore, and I'm nowhere near poverty. #twistedmytruth"

Justin will star in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet alongside Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad on Broadway net month, according to Hollywood Reporter.
