STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -

Thanks to Matthew Hobson, 28-year-old Anthony Coletti is living to fight another day.

"He was dead for, I would say ... approximately four to six minutes prior to our arrival," said Sterling Heights paramedic Vincent Schwartz.

"He's almost out of the woods right now," Hobson said. "He's in a coma right now. They finally said that he finally got some brain activity back, which is a good thing. Makes all of us at the shop relieved."

Tuesday, Coletti was brooming concrete in a driveway in Sterling Heights. The metal pole he was using to smooth the concrete came into contact with some low hanging electrical wires sending more than 13,000 volts of pure electricity through his body.

"I heard him being shocked by the electricity, and at that point there was no hesitation at all," Hobson said. "He didn't have a pulse or anything, and I just immediately started CPR on him."

"Fifth, sixth, seventh graders should know CPR," Schwartz said. "As important as what it is to call 911, it's just as important to be able to know CPR."

Paramedics credit Hobson for his bold courage. He learned CPR five years ago from the 4-H Program. He had never used it before, and who knows if he will ever use it again.

Hobson was truly in the right place at the right time. He was delivering concrete to Coletti's job site. He has only been working for Mini Mix Concrete for three months. He might be a guardian angel, but he is definitely a hero.

"Everybody's calling me a hero, superstar, celebrity, but the way I look at it is that I did what I had to do just to keep him alive," Hobson said.
