GILBERT, Ariz. -

Gilbert Police say a victim was run over by a suspected carjacker on Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the unidentified car owner was in his vehicle near Baseline and Arizona when a man approached him and demanding it.

As the carjacker began to drive away, the owner reached inside the open window to try and stop him and was dragged for a few feet.

The suspect then ran over the victim as they drove away, according to police. Police don't know if a weapon was used during the crime.

The car owner suffered minor injuries and the 1990 red Geo Prism was recovered minutes later.

Police say the suspect is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic man wearing plaid shorts and a blue shirt.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
