Investment banker accused of rape in the Hamptons

Posted: Updated:

A Goldman Sachs investment banker has been arrested on a rape charge stemming from an encounter at a party at a house he was renting in the Hamptons.

Authorities say police responded to a disturbance at the $33,000 a month house Jason Lee was renting with his wife in tony East Hampton.

“While investigating, officers learned that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted inside the residence where several people had gathered,” the East Hampton police said in the statement.

Lee's lawyer, Edward Burke, Jr., says his client adamantly denies the allegations. He tells The New York Times that, “We look forward to clearing his name in a court of law."

Lee works in Goldman Sachs’s equity capital markets group. The bank says he is on leave following his arrest.

The 37-year-old Lee was arraigned on a rape charge and released after posting $20,000 cash bail at East Hampton Justice Court.
