Rock n' Roll Photography - With Heart

Posted: Updated:

"Barracuda" never sounded better! I was standing right in front of Ann and Nancy Wilson as they rocked The Greek Theatre in LA, one of my favorite concert venues.  I had permission to photograph Heart and Jason Bonham on stage just like a regular rock & roll photographer.  Yes, I'm still pinching myself.

Here's how it works. You shoot for the first three songs. If you have tickets, you can go back and sit at your assigned seats but only after you check in your camera gear with security. They don't want you to keep taking photos or shooting video without permission. If you don't have tickets you go outside.

It was a first for me as a photographer and extremely exciting that it was with the legendary rock group Heart. The Wilson sisters have been at it for nearly 40 years.  They still look great and man, can Ann belt out a tune!  What a voice that woman has.  They ended the night with the encore of Led Zeppelin songs with Jason Bonham.  The last song was "Stairway to Heaven".  It was exactly what I expected. Brilliant!

Here are some of my photos. I hope you like them. You can check out more on my personal website: ginasilvaphotography.com.

Twins brothers with a YouTube channel filled with their pranks say they weren't trying to make a joke. Serious intentions or not, a park full of parents were not amused by their latest stunt. This video is a must-see!

Rat poison may be responsible for the sorry condition of a wild mountain lion in LA's Griffith Park. The mountain lion is known to the National Park Service as ‘P-22'.

I met the folks from Gunnar Optiks at CES this year and they had something new to show me. The Intercepts. I have a big head, these are big frames, it was kismet but do they work as good as they look? We'll see.
