Talk About A Storm! So Cal Hit by Rain, Wind and Floods

Posted: Updated:

Powerful thunderstorms lashed inland areas of Southern California on Thursday, dropping heavy rain that led to mudslides, downed power lines and the closure of a community college.

Torrential rain was reported in Riverside and other cities that flooded roadways and stranded motorists. There were no reports of injuries.

Three mudslides closed the main thoroughfare in Forest Falls, a town in the San Bernardino Mountains. The road was expected to be closed for at least several hours.

Afternoon and evening classes were canceled at Riverside City College because of flooding, authorities said.

The National Weather Service said as much as 2 1/2 inches of rain fell within an hour in Riverside.

Lake Elsinore Storm Chaser Will Wilkens caught the picture of the day - a Wall Cloud with Rotation in the Riverside area around 3pm this afternoon. Will told me he will be back out Friday chasing storms.  You can watch his LIVE feeds on TVNWeather.

The wet weather could continue Friday into the weekend.
