Prescott Valley policeman quits over bar fight

Updated:

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - A Prescott Valley police officer has resigned after an investigation into a law enforcement motorcycle club allegedly involved in a fight at a Prescott bar last year.

Police officials say Cpl. Tyran Payne stepped down prior to any formal action that may have been taken by the town over the Dec. 22 brawl involving the Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club.

The fight on Whiskey Row sent one man to the hospital with a broken nose and left another with minor facial injuries.

In April, the Arizona Department of Public Safety released a report on the incident.

The report recommended that charges of felony obstruction of criminal investigations and misdemeanor charges of false reporting be filed against a former Prescott Valley police chief, an ex-Yavapai County sheriff's sergeant and other club members.
