Political fund tied to Ga. Gov. Deal raises $786k

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Disclosure reports show a political fund tied to Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has raised roughly $786,000.

The Real PAC of Georgia largely raised the funds from organizations and political action committees that do business with the state or have a financial interest in legislation.

Since Real PAC is a political action committee, companies, lobbyists and others can give it donations worth up to $50,000, well beyond the contribution limits for Deal's official re-election campaign.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that among the donors was a company trying to become the administrator of a health insurance program for state workers, Anheuser-Busch and car title loan purveyor Titlemax.

Real PAC was started by Deal supporters. The disclosure report filed Friday was its first since early 2012.
