Hot Temps. Hot Tempers, Crime Spike?

Posted: Updated:

LAPD, not willing to blame entirely the current hot, humid weather, but say perhaps a factor for a crime spike in Hollywood. Overnight there were three separate violent crime incidents; two stabbings in two locations, one shooting in a club. One person was killed in a stabbing in Highland Ave. Two people were stabbed outside a pizzeria on Hollywood Blvd.   They're both reported in critical condition but likely alive thanks to Good Samaritans who applied pressure to the wounds while waiting for medical help.

In the third incident,  police say three men were hurt when shots were fired at a club on Yucca and Ivar.  Those men apparently took care of their own medical treatment.
Currently, there is one man in custody for the murder.  LAPD want the public's help in finding suspects connected to the other two incidents. Captain Cory Palka says thanks to increased resources, crime has come down in Hollywood double digits this summer.  Those resources meant quick responses to all three incidents.

So back to the idea that hot temps increases crime. There are studies that show hot weather can make people crabby at the least.
