PEORIA, Ariz. -

Two suspects were arrested with a large variety of guns, ammunition and explosives after a DPS officer saw a vehicle weaving on Saturday night.

A Department of Public Safety officer saw a vehicle almost collide with a cement barrier wall near US 60 and 91st Avenue. His observation may have stopped a massive tragedy.

When pulled over, the officer saw 30-year-old Michael James Doyle was wearing a ballistic vest and had large bulges in his pockets. A record check revealed his license was suspended.

Doyle's vehicle contained a fully loaded AK-47 Rifle, Pipe bombs and bomb components, a steel plate converted into a shield, a copy of the Anarchist Cookbook, a copy of the Improvised Munitions Handbook, a machete, five magazines with a total of 159 rounds of ammunition and a steel shank.

Doyle and his passenger, 26-year-old Christopher G. Dewey, were handcuffed and searched.

Officers found a set of handcuffs in Doyle's back pocket, a pipe bomb with a red fuse in his front pants and a ballistic vest.

A total of seven complete Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were found and determined to be safe by the DPS Bomb Squad.

Doyle's estranged wife told authorities Doyle considers himself to be a "Sovereign Citizen."

Detectives say they found a cassette tape of him talking about killing and doomsday, Molotov cocktail devices and a 30-06 scoped rifle inside his home.

Both Doyle and Dewey were booked into jail and face 14 counts of misconduct with explosives, two counts of misconduct with a weapon, use of body armor during commission of a felony.
