McGhee leads Howard to 27-16 win over Morehouse

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Greg McGhee passed for 242 yards and three touchdowns to lead Howard to a 27-16 win over Morehouse Saturday.

The Howard defense sealed the victory, recording nine sacks in the Third Annual AT&T Nation's Football Classic.

The Morehouse Maroon Tigers got on the board first when they drove 68 yards on 13 plays and got the ball down to the Bison 20-yard line but had to settle for 37-yard Hector Solis field goal.

The Howard defense harassed the Morehouse quarterbacks, recording nine sacks. McGhee took advantage of their play by putting together three drives. The first took six plays and resulted in a 20-yard strike in the corner of the end zone to freshman running back Anthony Philyaw.

McGhee capped off a short drive with a 26-yard run and catch to Rodney Tyson midway through the third period.
