COBB COUNTY, Ga. -

Firefighters from around metro Atlanta gathered in Cobb County for the 3rd Annual Terry Farrell 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb.

Sunday's climb was open to everyone for a $25 donation. Each participant was challenged to climb 24 flights of stairs at the Riverwood 100 building located on Riverwood Parkway.

The climb is both a memorial to the firefighters lost in the September 11th attacks and a fundraiser for the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund.

The fund was named after a decorated member of Rescue 4 FDNY and Chief of the Dix Hills Volunteer Fire Department before he perished when the south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. Farrell was among 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the attack.

The fund goes to assist firefighters and their families with educational, medical and equipment needs. The Georgia Chapter states they have raised over $17,000.00 in financial aid to Georgia Firefighters and approximately $100,000 in surplus equipment to fire departments.
