Cyclists In Silverlake Want their Own Lane

Posted: Updated:
Silverlake, CA -

A community meeting in Silver Lake brought out everyday cyclists who say they want a dedicated bike path along Virgil Ave between Santa Monica and Beverly Blvds.  The LA department of transportation has a proposed plan for a lane all mapped out but city officials are still considering options.

Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell says he wants to listen to his constituents first and also see how adding a bike lane would affect motorist along the busy avenue.   Cyclists Omar Romero says "it would be nice if it were more bike friendly, it would be safer."

The matter is expected to be decided on soon.
