The bronze sculpture of fallen Detective Jeremiah MacKay unveiled on Sunday, September 1, by sculptor Khachik Khachatouryan has been vandalized.

The sculpture depicting MacKay — who lost his life in a shootout with Christopher Dorner in Big Bear on February 12 — holding his right hand over his heart and his left hand extended with an open hand had a bronze dove on the pedestal that holds the statue on a grassy knoll in Lake Arrowhead Village.

MISSING DOVE

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Jodi Miller told ROTWNEWS the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station was notified the dove was missing and the sculpture vandalized.

Anyone with information is urged to call the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Office.
