FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -

A Forsyth County man was arrested on Thursday after allegedly being overheard threatening to shoot up a school.

According to police, 51-year-old Joseph John Medved allegedly made the threats at a health clinic in Roswell on Wednesday. He is accused of telling a receptionist that he wanted to test his weapons at his old high school, which is in Gwinnett County.

Police say Medved then attempted to purchase a gun at a pawn shop in Forsyth County. According to authorities, after his 24-hour background check cleared, Medved picked up the rifle.

Authorities said they then received reports of Medved shooting a gun near his home in Cumming.

Police secured a warrant and surrounded Medved's home on Goldmine Road, where he was arrested.

Deputies say they found  a shotgun, rounds, and shrapnel in the basement of the home.

Medved was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats.  He was booked into the Fulton County Jail and is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Friday morning.
