Man accused of shooting at Pima County deputies

Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man is in custody for allegedly shooting at Pima County Sheriff's deputies who responded to a Tucson apartment complex.

Sheriff's officials say 36-year-old Michael Albert Mesaros is being held on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and criminal damage.

Deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex about 2 a.m. Thursday for a shots fired call.

There were reports that people in the complex saw a man running with a gun.

When deputies arrived, they reported hearing a gunshot and began a search to locate the shooter.

Deputies say they located Mesaros and a handgun in an apartment.

Detectives with the robbery assault unit say Mesaros intentionally fired his weapon at the first patrol vehicle to arrive. There were no reported injuries.
