911 calls describe scene of fatal Snellville shooting

Posted: Updated:
SNELLVILLE, Ga. -

Newly-released 911 calls shed light on a shooting that left three people dead in Snellville on Sunday.

Authorities say 33-year-old Robert Bell shot and killed Angelina Benton, her 12-year-old son, Joseph McDonald, and 19-year-old family friend Raynord Daniel. A fourth victim -- 23-year-old Justin Cato -- was hospitalized.

The motive behind the shooting hasn't been determined, but police said each of the victims had been shot multiple times.

In the 911 calls, a neighbor is heard panicking as she describes the gunman chasing a woman through the Snellville community.

"He kept running and kept shooting and then I heard some other gunshots. Please hurry," the caller said.

The woman told the dispatcher that the gunman "had a machine gun" and was chasing the woman down the street.

When Gwinnett County police arrived at the home, they found Benton and Cato outside. Both had been shot. Cato was able to call 911 from his cell phone.

Cato told dispatch he'd been shot twice in the leg with an assault rifle. He then revealed there were two other victims in Benton's home. But the wounded man couldn't identify the gunman.

"He just everybody in the house," Cato said.

Bell's black SUV was recovered at the scene. Police say an AR-15 was found in the vehicle and may have been the murder weapon.

Police are still searching for Bell, who they say could be traveling to Chicago; Albany, Ga.; or Crossville, Tenn.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 770-513-5300.
