Simi Valley Man Accused Of Impersonating An LAPD Officer

Posted: Updated:

It started out as a simple call to Santa Clarita Sheriff, investigating a robbery. Turns out the robbery was of brand new upper receivers, used to build AR-15 rifles, at a local gun manufacturing facility.

During the investigation, LA County Sheriff's finds out the suspect had supposedly identified himself as a sworn LAPD captain, using a fake badge and ID.

Turns out the suspect is NOT a cop, but during the search warrant at the Simi iValley home of 37-year-old Jeffrey Edmonds, investigators found quite the arsenal, including handguns, rifles, illegal assault weapons, ballistic helmets, all kinds of grenades, and ammunition....oh, and a fake LAPD badge and ID.

Edmonds has been arrested on grand theft, impersonating a peace officer, and weapons violations. He is being held on 250 thousand dollar bail.

But "he may not have had ill will, or wanted to target the community" says deputy Joshua Dublin,  with Santa Clarita Sheriff's.

Sources close to the investigation confirm they are looking into Edmonds' connection to a website that provides, what is described as: media solutions for the tactical community. It's packed with all kinds of photos of weapons, and that in itself, may be completely legitimate.

Still, with the number of weapons that now have to be checked (they could be stolen), the fake Police ID, and the alleged robbery...lets just say that the whole thing remain "under investigation".

Edmonds is supposed to be at the North Valley Superior Court in San Fernando tomorrow, Thursday.

All attempts to contact someone at the website went unanswered. At least two of the "clients" listed in the website referred us to the sheriff's, since the whole thing is being investigated.
