New iPhones released amid much fanfare

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Lines formed early as anxious Apple lovers eager awaited Friday's release of the new iPhone.

For the first time, Apple launched two iPhone model – the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C -- at the same time.

The iPhone 5C is made is made out of plastic, comes in different colors and costs about $100 less than its counterpart.

Despite the extra cost, most Apple fans FOX 5 talked to on Friday were scooping up the iPhone 5S.

A survey by the gadget insurance company Protect Your Bubble found that 78 percent of iPhone buyers there were purchasing the iPhone 5S.  Another fun fact: 52 percent said they'd rather eat the same meal every day for a year than give up their smartphone.

Apple is expected to sell 6.5 million iPhones this weekend. That's up from the sale of the iPhone 5 last year.
